TIP! If you are prepping, practice a lot and memorize what you need to prior to speech day. Once you can recite your speech from memory at any point of day, then you can work on delivery.

Time yourself to find out how long your speech before you give it. This allows you to edit the speech to stay within the right length. If you find your speech is lacking length, add more time by finding more information. Never rush when delivering a speech publically.

Preparation is important when you give a speech. Get everything you want to share in your speech down well. Take time to research, if needed. Write down anything you need to include. Practice until you know the speech by heart. Being prepared will give you the confidence you need to be an effective public speaker.

Once you have the ability to make your speech without assistance at any time, you can then work on delivering it. Memorizing your speech also frees you up for improvisation later on.

Keep your attention towards the audience. Keep your focus on what you are doing and not allow yourself to get distracted. You want your audience to pay attention to you, so you need to pay attention to them as well.
