Do You Have Issues With Public Speaking? Read This

In order to make the best presentation when speaking publicly, you must prepare thoroughly. What do you plan to say? Do your homework to back up your statements, if you must. Write down everything you are going to say. Keep practicing your words until they are embedded in your memory. Being prepared will make you confident when you step up to the podium.

Do not touch alcohol prior to giving your speech. While you may think it will help loosen you up, it will most likely backfire on you. There is nothing more frightening than getting ready to give a speech and forgetting everything due to the alcohol you drank before the speech.

Practice deep breathing exercises if you are the type who is anxious when you speak in public. Controlling your breathing will reduce your level of stress. Breathe through your nose and count to four, then exhale counting to five. Repeat this breathing technique five times to help calm your nerves.

TIP! Practice some deep breathing to help you through your speech. Taking some deep breaths and then exhaling all the way before giving a speech can reduce nerves.

Make people remember the end of your speech memorable if you want it to be remembered. The end of the speech is what people remember.A boring ending will make them forget your speech get remembered that long.

Practicing is the best way to ensure that you know what you are going to say. Practice before a mirror or even video yourself so that you see where you can improve. The best way to improve your speech is to practice with family members and friends. They are capable of providing you with constructive criticism.

Note cards really can be quite helpful. Though you should know your content well, keeping a written copy on hand is also smart.

Never take a drink of alcohol prior to making a public speech. While it may appear to be a solution for low self-confidence, it will most likely backfire on you. Your speech will be ruined if you’re drunk and forget what you wanted to say.

TIP! Stay away from alcoholic drinks prior to speaking. You may be tempted to consume a little liquid courage, but it is not a good idea.
